OptiLoad™ — R&D, MVP

OptiLoad™ — Sbridge's Digital Twin R&D platform (currently MVP).

OptiLoad™ is our in-house R&D product applying discrete-event simulation to petroleum terminal operations. It models tanks, bays, pumps, meters, valves, schedules and demand profiles as a living system — letting operators test “what-if” scenarios before committing physical change. OptiLoad™ is currently an MVP and is not yet commercially released. We use it on selected client engagements as a feasibility-study tool, and we publish notes from its development on our Insights blog.

Scope and outcomes

What we deliver — and what it changes.

Technical work behind a useful model.

  • Discrete-event simulation foundation — model tanks, bays, pumps, meters, valves, schedules, and dispatch rules as event-driven objects.
  • Real-time data ingestion from PLC/SCADA/TAS/ATG/ERP — time-stamped events feed the twin without disrupting live control.
  • Tank, bay, pump, valve and meter object library — reusable, parameterised models calibrated to site equipment and operating rules.
  • Scenario library — peak-day demand, bay addition/removal, product-mix change, maintenance windows, demand spikes.
  • KPI projection — turnaround time, bay utilization, throughput, demurrage exposure, energy per m³.

  • Time-series + event store — historical replay and what-if analysis from the same data backbone.
  • Asset hierarchy — mirror the terminal's physical and functional structure for consistent reporting.
  • Optional 3D scene mapping — visual context for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Role-based views — operator, supervisor, planner, and management dashboards from the same model.

Representative scenarios

From projects we have participated in.

West African coastal terminal

Challenge

Multiple handoffs between business orders, loading control, and stock records.

Solution

Map ERP, TAS, and field events into a shared operating-chain view.

Outcome

A clearer path for reconciliation, shift review, and phased modernization.

Southern African inland depot

Challenge

Lean operations team needed better stock confidence and movement traceability.

Solution

Define BulkStock™ entry points around depot movements and daily controls.

Outcome

A practical roadmap for inventory visibility without replacing every system at once.

Multi-product tank farm

Challenge

Planning decisions depended on disconnected reports and manual checks.

Solution

Model constraints with a digital twin and expose KPI signals for operations.

Outcome

Better scenario review before changes reached live yard operations.
